Rachel T. Wells (she/her) is a Technical Director originally from Ann Arbor, MI. She holds an MFA in Theatre Technology from Indiana University and a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Western Michigan University. She currently serves as the Technical Director and Shop Supervisor at Northern Michigan University, where she oversees the production of 16 shows annually with a small, dedicated team.

At the core of Rachel's work is a belief in respect, preparation, and collaboration. Too often, the technical director is seen as the person who is there to say "yes" or "no." Rachel's goal is to be a true partner in the creative process. She approaches each production with the mindset that clear communication and thoughtful planning lead to better artistry and a healthier work environment. By focusing on big-picture thinking, meticulous preparation, and precise execution, she helps designers and directors realize their visions within the realities of time, labor, and budget. Her calm, adaptive leadership supports high production values and a sustainable work-life balance through strong preparation, clear expectations, and smart scheduling.
